Why would I need nutrition coaching?
Coaching has been around forever because it has been needed forever.
Alain Weiss, one of our favorite coaches, outlines a few reasons why people need coaching:
- They identify a need
- Someone else identifies a need
- Their conditions and needs change
- The problem is that nothing has changed
- There is an innate human desire to improve
- They seek to validate their worth or success.
When you think about your health and happiness, do any of these reasons resonate with you?
Good people need sound information and sounding boards. In addition, staying motivated while changing how we live is always challenging. A coaching relationship helps make it happen. Whether you need advice on overcoming food cravings, finding the best diet for your situation or want someone to help you stay on track to meet a health goal, nutrition coaching can help to improve your situation.
What to expect?
In your initial session, we want to learn what you already know about yourself (medical and family histories, current nutrition issues or concerns and specific goals). Plan to discuss your lifestyle and share what your typical day involves, with food and beyond. In your first session, we will create awareness around your current habits. You will know what you are doing well, and uncover the habits you may want to change. Together we will support your specific goals and create methods to track your progress. You will leave your first session with a basic plan of action. In subsequent sessions, we will focus on your specific questions and integrate the answers into daily practice to create long-term, sustainable results.

How often do we meet?
It depends on what you need. Remember, this is all about you. Some clients receive what they need in a few sessions; others request a longer and more connected relationship. Together, we will plan the length and spacing of sessions so they meet your needs. We honor that you will know when your needs are met.
Where do we meet?
Location is truly no obstacle. Coaching can be conducted on the phone or on-line in the convenience of your home or office. You setup an appointment as if you were going to meet us in an office. You have a full and busy life and you might not like not to deal with traffic or other hassles. Virtual coaching is environmentally friendly, too.
Payment for phone and on-line consultations need to be paid in advance unless other arrangements have been made. All rates include spot coaching via email between sessions. (Clients have found spot coaching to be a potent way to stay on track and remain motivated and connected.) Nutrition coaching can pay for itself in increased productivity and quality of life.
Currently, we do not accept insurance but can provide you with an official receipt of services, which you can submit directly to your insurance company. Insurance companies may partially or fully cover nutrition coaching under the term, Medical Nutrition Therapy. Often, a letter from your doctor referring you to a registered dietitian with a stated diagnosis can help you obtain coverage. Each policy is unique and it is a good idea to check with your carrier regarding coverage.
Thank you for honoring our 24-hour cancellation policy. Your appointment is a reservation of our time, keeping other clients from reserving that time. You are responsible for the costs of a session without adequate cancellation notice.
All sessions are held in strict confidence. With respect to your privacy, a release form will be required to obtain permission to speak with your physician or psychotherapist.
